When renovating a home or just deciding that you don’t want the wooden floor feel anymore it is important to really think and take time to answer the question, “which carpet is best for me?” Not all carpets are equal and making a wrong decision when choosing your type of carpet can be very costly.

Earthy tones will create a quieter feel and bright coloured carpets will give the room more energy. Carpets can become the focal point of a room so if you want to take the focus off all the furniture go for a carpet with bold colours and patterns however to make your furniture the focal point opt for neutral colours.

If on the other hand you are single and don’t have any pets or kids running around you will most likely be looking for something that is soft underfoot and can really choose any carpet that you want if you are going to make sure it is taken care of and cleaned on a regular basis. A lounge with a beautiful soft white carpet does really look amazing but it is not a practical solution for busy households.

No matter what type of house hold you have and what carpet you are going to buy there are a few important points that everyone has to consider.

1. f you have a fireplace in your home you need to make sure that the carpet is fire resistant.

2. If there is lots of sunlight coming through your windows during the day you will want to buy a carpet that is solution dyed nylon that will reduce the amount of fading that occurs over the years.

3. Protect and clean your carpets on a regular basis. The old saying, “prevention is better than cure” holds very true for carpets. As soon as they are fitted have them protected. This prevents the ingress of dirt into the fibres and can be a life saver if something is spilt on the carpet. Regular vacuuming and cleaning will not only make then last longer but will keep them looking new.
