Is Carpet Protector Worth It ?
In any living room the two most expensive items that you will buy are wall to wall carpeting and a lounge suite. They are ultimately an investment that needs to be taken care of in order to last as long as possible. Really good quality does come at a price however if maintained on a regular basis carpets and upholstery can last a lifetime. However just regular cleaning and vacuuming will not ensure that they remain stain free and there needs to be some sort of barrier to prevent ingress of dirt and stains.
All new cars a gleaming and shiny and that is due to a “wax” coating that is put on the paintwork once completed. Carpets and upholstery need the same type of protection when new and the majority of carpets and upholstery do not come with any extra protection when bought new.
As soon as your new carpets are laid or your new lounge suite arrives the first thing that you should do is have it protected, covered with “carpet wax” or “upholstery wax” so to speak. Unless you never take any food, drinks, pets, children or people into your living room ultimately there will be spills, pet dirt and just general dirt from people. One major cause of dirt build up on a sofa is actually hair. If you look at any sofa that has never been cleaned you will be able to see exactly where the most used section is merely by looking at the back of the sofa, there will be a build-up of hair oil that can be very difficult to remove. Apart from that any other spills and dirt can leave permanent stains and ruin a very expensive piece of furniture. Most carpets and suits, although practical, are designed for comfort and the majority are not made from hard plastic that is easy to wipe clean but from some type of material that is absorbent and this is where the problem lies. When something is spilt on the carpet or upholstery it is absorbed into the fibres and basically dyes them a different colour. When you have a protectant applied to your furniture, rugs or carpets then that protectant is absorbed into the new fibres. When something is spilt then the liquid will face a “barrier” and cannot be absorbed into the fibre to dye it, the protectant repels it. Most people have a jacket that is designed to be used outdoors, not a raincoat, but an actual jacket made from some natural material and if you actually have a look at the rain when it lands on the jacket you will see that it “beads” off and doesn’t sit on the material. Okay gravity helps when it comes to jackets but the principle is the same, the jacket has a protectant that repels liquid. So before you let your messy kids, muddy dogs or invite your friends and family around for that house warming party where lots of red wine and coffee will be dying to dye your new carpets and upholstery, give Pure Dry a call and have everything protected.
